Argentina captain Lionel Messi has signed a new contract at Barcelona that will extend his stay until 2021. The Spanish giants announced the new deal on Wednesday with a short tweet.
“BREAKING! Leo Messi will remain at @FCBarcelona until 2021. #Messi2021,” Barca tweeted without providing details of the deal.
Messi, 30, has been hugely successful at Barcelona since joining them as a 13-year-old schoolboy.
He has been named best player in the world a record five times and has won every trophy available since making his first team debut in 2004.
Messi, who has scored 349 goals in 382 Barcelona appearances, has won eight La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League trophies with the club.
